Disturbance and Resources Across Global Grasslands
Assess vegetation recovery from disturbance across grasslands worldwide
Even small-scale disturbances by feral pigs can have long-term impacts on grasslands, especially when it happens in conjunction with nutrient addition. In this study we collaborate with scientists across the globe to investigate the impact of disturbance and fertilization on grasslands using an experiment replicated in more than 60 sites. We will quantify recovery rates and trajectories of change following disturbance events in 3 consecutive years consisting of removing all standing biomass, plowing to 15 cm depth and removal of large rhizomes.
