Akiem Gough is a 2021 Biology graduate of Florida Southern College, who started working at Archbold as an Agroecology intern, with his project focusing on the invasive species, Hymenachne amplexicaulis. In his current position, he performs various tasks, involving data collection and monitoring of vegetation, water quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and plant invasion at Buck Island Ranch. This also includes writing and editing procedures, and training new staff and interns on these procedures. His research interests are rooted in plant ecology, principally pertaining to non-native species and to wetland, grassland, and scrub habitats. Currently, his favorite task is conducting species composition surveys.
