Digging Deeper: The Secret Lives of Gopher Tortoises

with the Herpetology Research Team

Sat. 04/05/25; 6:30 pm - Sat. 04/05/25; 8:00 pm

Archbold Biological Station (in-person event)

Archbold herpetologists have been studying Gopher Tortoises for nearly 60 years but the daily lives of this shy, burrowing reptile are only now coming into focus thanks to long-term tracking of individual tortoises. At this event, participants will learn about our research on tortoise behaviors via an indoor presentation, followed by a demonstration of how we radiotrack wild tortoises. Weather cooperating, our short hike will be rewarded with sightings of tortoises and a peek inside their burrows. For adults and children 12 and up.

No RSVP necessary, but appreciated.
