Archbold Biological Station (in-person event)

Richard Archbold, founder of Archbold Biological Station, was a lifelong patron of and participant in Biological Exploration. He dedicated a decade of his life to exploring the flora and fauna of New Guinea. Then 35 years sponsoring further explorations of the Pacific, while also creating the field station which bears his name. 


Archbold Librarian and Archivist Joe Gentili will discuss how the scion of a wealthy New York family came to explore remote corners of the world and what drove him to create a biological field station in rural Florida.

Using his own words and materials whenever possible we will explore the legacy of Richard Archbold, and what led him to a lifetime of noteworthy accomplishments. RSVP is appreciated. Please register here.
